Moisturizing Skin Cream

What makes a good moisturizer?

First off, it is important to know that most claims that a certain product (even the very expensive one) will perform miracles on skin are simply not true. Claims that a cream or a moisturizer will prevent or get rid of wrinkles, stop the aging process, firm the skin, or get rid of cellulite are all false. All a moisturizer, a cream, a lotion, or a serum can to do is supply the skin with vital ingredients so it can maintain its healthy function, its structure, reduce damage caused by the elements (sun, wind, water), and pollution. Well-researched skin care products with effective groups of ingredients are the ones to go for. There is no one miraculous ingredient, may it be seaweed or plant oil will make wrinkles go away or improve skin at all. Creams and moisturizers with good antioxidants, anti-irritants, water-binding agents and emollients (for those with dry skin) and fatty acids (lecithin, linoleic acid) will greatly improve the health and appearance of the skin and prevent the damage caused by the elements.

Different Types of Moisturizers

There is no need at all to have a different moisturizer for face, throat, or eyes. A well formulated, skin type specific cream will work very well on all areas of the skin – even on delicate skin around the eyes.

Contrary to what the cosmetic industry wants us to believe, there is also no need for a daytime and a nighttime moisturizer. The only difference is that a daytime moisturizer should contain a sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher.

The main ingredient in any moisturizer should be water or silicone-based fluids – not oils. NO moisturizer should ever have ANY fragrance!!!
